I had attended a webinar today regarding Selenium 3.0, led by Simon Stewart. The new version is coming out around Christmas, 2016. I was wondering if Codeception has the intention to upgrade Selenium version?
Some information on the new version:https://smartbear.com/learn/automated-testing/whats-new-in-selenium/https://github.com/SeleniumHQ/selenium/wiki/Shipping-Selenium-3#user-visible-changes
Really interesting. Thanks for the info @Anya_Krug
I think we definitely will want compatibility with any new version of Selenium ^_^
Yes, that's a good aim for us to get it supported.
Any update on Codeception working with Selenium 3 and the Mozilla gecko driver?
I think there is nothing special for Codeception. You will need to install Gecko driver and launch Selenium with it
java -jar -Dwebdriver.gecko.driver=~/geckodriver ~/selenium-server-standalone-x.xx.x.jar
Thank you! I don't know how many different tutorials and articles I've read about getting the newest versions of Firefox and Selenium working together and never picked up on this missing piece.
I've stolen it from one issue at Yii repo https://github.com/yiisoft/yii2-app-basic/pull/90
I played around with the 3.0 versions a few days ago. AFAIR Firefox was running without problems, but Chrome had issues in my setup. It's nice to try this with a Docker container, just replace the version i.e. here: https://github.com/dmstr/phd5-app/blob/c83f31d6deb89d3d640f6c0a30cd378e55ed81bc/tests/docker-compose.test.yml#L43
I want to share with you a Selenium WebDriver 3 introduction and first impressions: http://blog.testproject.io/2016/11/07/selenium-webdriver-3/
